Every afternoon, I think of cake. It all goes back to when I was little, and my mother, who usually brought me home from school, would bake dessert with me twice a month. My mother loved baking. I loved cake. From her, I grew to love baking, too.
We would be in the kitchen, just the two of us. We started out by reading each recipe and finding the exact quantities to put in the food. Then, as we got comfortable, we would start experimenting. A dash of this, a hint of that. A little extra flour for good measure. Sometimes, these experiments would turn out as well as you’d expect experiments to turn out. But other times, we made something delicious. Of course, making a delicious dessert meant that we kept expanding upon our experiments — a little bit different. Each time the results were different, but each time, the experience was just as fun.
My friends were jealous. After I brought the desserts to school to share, they wanted in on the fun, too. But my mom and I agreed that our baking fun was reserved for us alone.
We’re sharing some special moments with you — in which we felt closest to our mom and dad. In celebration of the impact our fathers (or mothers) had on us, and the love and care that they shared with us, we want you to show your appreciation by encouraging you to share a pair of wristbands or a band page on QR Living with your father or son. Purchase a wristband for your father or son (or mother or daughter), and get a second wristband for free! Just enter promo code PARENTS when you purchase a QR Living wristband through March 10. We want a QR Living wristband and shared band page to be the symbol of your special bond.
